A PEACE SYMBOL FOR THE NEW MILLENNIUM

Throughout history, we have seen various symbols for peace.

In Scripture, the dove, the olive branch and the rainbow all stand as symbols for peace. In Native American tradition, the passing of the calumet (peace pipe) is seen as a token and acceptance of peace.

In current times, the symbol for peace we are most familiar with is the
image designed by Gerald Holtom - . Although initially an emblem for the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, it has become a globally recognized symbol for peace.

All of these symbols are powerful and have great significance, but we now require an image that not only symbolizes peace but also envisions and defines the path we must travel to attain peace.

A symbol that stands as a vigilant reminder of where we are and where we must be.

A symbol that represents the role that all must play.

As a peace symbol for the new millennium, the Equation for Peace reflects the simple truth of our needed unity.

Moreover, it defines the way for that unity to become manifest.
